Rules philosophy is still the same, but a lot of detail changes have occured and a few major changes (artillery underwent some critical changes in its effect and the sequence of play ; vision is now deterministic ; for example).

Stats are compatible except for the following things:

armor is now on a logarithmic scale, so that every AFV with armor >11 (IIRC, maybe 10 or 12) must be recalculated. I should have a conversion table somewhere. Obviously, penetration numbers have to follow the same conversion processus.

The range bands have been uniformized, except for the extreme range. (one of the most controversial change Very Happy )

speed is expressed differently. while in CD3, the basic movement allowance was halved under a cautious move, in TOB, the basic movement allowance is halved on the data chart and you double it when doing an hasty move. The result is the same, but the notation is different.

I unfortunately don't have so much time and my game design skills are quite poor, so I kind of gave up on the project. I would love to have a modern version, though. Sad

Let's lobby Frank!

Folks;

I had a few conversations with the TOB group at Historicon and am throwing my hat into the ring.

Near-term plan is to take what is already here and use to put on a couple of Operation Iraqi Freedom games based on some of the USMC engagements in the first two weeks of the war.

Our group in Virginia (USA) hopes to playtest over the summer and put on a couple of games at Fall In in October.

More to follow.
